In recent years, Tarantula subwoofers have evolved to meet various performance and placement goals, keeping our, the Soundstream fanatic, suggestions in mind. However, more often than not, we hear your calls to bring back a legend. For 2015, we're proud to re-introduce the old favorite, Tarantula T5. For this next generation, we made a few changes and several improvements.

The Tarantula T5 boasts a non-magnetic, non-resonate die-cast aluminum frame that helps reduce voice coil heat buildup. The 12mm T-yoke and top plate have been improved to enhance low-frequency dynamics, while the vented T-yoke and frame further aid in dissipating heat. These key components work together to provide increased magnetic strength and power handling capabilities.

The 3-inch, 4-layer voice coil with direct connect wire enhances the subwoofer's ability to handle higher power, thanks to its improved thermal tolerance. The non-transfer Spruce pulp cone is protected against UV and chemical damage, ensuring long-lasting performance. The stitched and glued surround/cone joints create the strongest possible bonding, while the extended excursion polyether foam surround, also UV and chemically protected, dampens accelerations.

Improvements to the Tarantula T5 include the addition of a 1-piece gasket/trim ring with concealed mounting holes, providing a clean and seamless installation. The subwoofer boasts an RMS power handling of 1,000 watts and a maximum power handling of 2,000 watts, with a dual 4-ohm voice coil impedance.

The recommended enclosure sizes for the Tarantula T5 are 1.50 cubic feet for a sealed box and 2.50 cubic feet for a ported box. The mounting depth of the subwoofer is 7.25 inches, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of installations.
